Middle School (listed as Sutter Middle School) was awarded
the California Distinguished School Award for 2024. Schools
were selected by analyzing data reported through the 2023
Dashboard, with a focus on demonstrating excellence and growth in
academic achievement and ensuring a positive school climate.
Schools are recognized for exceptional student performance based
on achieving exemplary performance in English Language Arts (ELA)
and math, and reducing suspensions.
Good afternoon, Mighty Oak families! Our Miwok MS Jazz Band will
be recognized at the March 7th Board Meeting at 6:30 pm.

Spring Picture Day: Spring Picture Day
is Monday, March 18th. All students will be
photographed during their PE class. 7th graders will take Spring
pictures and 8th graders will take Promotion
pictures. Viewing and ordering will be one week AFTER
picture day. You will receive a notification via email and text.

Oaks Got Talent: Interested in showcasing your
special talent? Come by room 111 during lunch
on February 29th to hear more about this year’s
Oaks Got Talent and learn how you can perform in front
of the whole school during the Spring Rally.

Air Rock: Air Rock will be in the
cafeteria on Thursday, February 22nd at 6 pm. Doors will
open at 5:30 pm. Ticket sales for Air Rock are
open until the day of the event during lunch for $4 – be
sure to buy tickets for your family members as well. You don’t
want to miss this show!! Parking will be available in the back of

grade boys and girls basketball teams who are City Champions!!
Also, great job to both of our 7th grade basketball teams and our
cheer team for all of their hard work throughout the season.

February 3rd, at Hiram Johnson High School. Come cheer on our 8th

time at Winter Arts Night for those of you that were able to
attend. We appreciate the support of our parents and the hard
work of our students and teachers who put this together, Ms.
Cortez, Ms. Turner, Mr. Heckey, and Ms. Wassum.
Our boys cross country team was recognized last night at the
board meeting for being 2023 National champions. Congratulations
again to our team and to Coach Moreno!

FALL-tastic fundraising goal of $20,000!!! Thank you to our

Winter Arts Night: Don’t miss our Miwok
Middle School’s Winter Art’s night on December 14th! Woodshop,
art and photography classes will have student-created items for
sale: cutting boards, toys, photography, cyanotypes, small
paintings, handmade crafts, stocking stuffers, and gifts galore!
Bake sale items will also be for sale. Come and peruse room 101,
103, and 104 from 5:00-7 pm! All proceeds benefit the
electives programs. There’s also a Winter music concert that
evening featuring the Ukulele class, Beginning Band, and Advanced
Band from 6:00-7:00 in the cafeteria. Please join us for an
amazing night to celebrate and enjoy the arts!!
Student Achievement Awards: Congratulations
to the first quarter student achievement award
winners! Students were nominated and voted for by staff
members in various categories. Here is a link to the award

Young Actors Stage: Join the cast
of Shrek Jr. at Miwok and be a part of this hilarious
modern musical! Cast members will rehearse after school on
Fridays, and perform at 24th Street Theater in May. Registration

Study Hall: Study Hall is offered Monday-
Thursday each week. Mornings in room 215 from 7:35-8:05 and
afternoons in room 112 (near the cafeteria) from 2:35-3:35
(M/T/W) and 1:35-2:35 (Thursdays).
Free Math Tutoring in the
Evening: If your child needs help in the
evenings while working on math homework, have them check out this
FREE tutoring! Sac State has a FREE tutoring program called
“Math Tutoring Buddies.” They offer one-on-one tutoring via Zoom
Monday – Friday from 4pm to 7pm. Here’s a link to

6th Grade Visitation Days: If you know of any
6th grade families that are interested in attending Miwok Middle

from November 18-26th. As we get ready for one more day before

Good afternoon, Mighty Oak families! I’m sending my weekly
message a day earlier than usual to remind you of the importance
of having your students log into Infinite Campus as soon as
possible to retrieve their new password. For increased security,
all passwords are being reset across the district. We are asked
to have students access Campus Portal prior
to Saturday, November 4th. Passwords will change over
the weekend and students will be required to use the new
passwords to access district resources effective Monday, November
6th.
Good afternoon, Mighty Oak families! Congratulations to our Girls
and Boys Cross Country teams who won the City Championship last
week! Also, congratulations to Elias Thronson for winning the
individual Boys Cross Country first place title! The team had a
fantastic season and thank you to our coaches Bryan Moreno and
Michelle Henning.

Good afternoon, Mighty Oak families! Yesterday, we welcomed
representatives from Wilton Rancheria for a celebration of our
new name, Miwok Middle School. We are grateful they were able to
join us and share a part of their culture with us.
We only have 2 more weeks until the end of the 1st quarter! The
last day of the quarter is on Friday, November 3rd and will be a
minimum day schedule with students being dismissed at 12:18 pm.

Good afternoon, Mighty Oak families! I want to start this message
by acknowledging Mr. Heckey’s Advanced Woodshop class who helped
a patient from Sutter Health Child Life program who wanted to
sell lemonade as part of her effort to raise money for children
with cancer, even as this child is battling cancer herself. Our
woodshop class built and donated a lemonade stand to her that she
was able to use at the farmer’s market recently.
