Good afternoon, Mighty Oak families! Congratulations to our 8th grade boys and girls basketball teams who are City Champions!! Also, great job to both of our 7th grade basketball teams and our cheer team for all of their hard work throughout the season. Thank you to all of our coaches and for all of the parent support!

As a friendly reminder, there is no school on Monday, February 12th in observance of Lincoln’s Day. 

Valentine’s Dance and Dress up Day: Our Valentine’s Dance is on Wednesday, February 14th from 2:35-4:35 pm in the cafeteria. Be sure to come to school dressed head to toe in red, pink and white!! Tickets are on sale during lunch outside of room 111 for $7.

McClatchy/Rosemont High School Scheduling: 8th graders who live in the C.K. McClatchy High School neighborhood will be sent passes from class to go to the library on February 13-14th for scheduling. 8th graders who live in the Rosemont High School neighborhood will be sent passes from class to go to the library on February 20th for scheduling. CKM/Rosemont representatives will be here on their respective day to program students within their boundary for their 9th grade course selections.

Spring Sports: If your child is considering trying out for any sports, they must complete and return all 3 forms to our main office or you can email them to Natasha-Brown@scusd.edu . All forms must be submitted before your child will be allowed to tryout.   

  • Softball tryouts will be Monday (Feb 12th, even though there is no school)/Tuesday (Feb 13th)/Friday (Feb 16th) from 3:00-5:00 at Phoebe Hearst / East Sac Little League Softball field. Please try to attend all 3 days. 
  • Boys Volleyball has a season start date of April 2nd. Expect tryouts to be in early March. 
  • Golf Tryouts will continue on Tuesday after school. Please meet at room 115 and walk over to McKinley Park with Coach Gomez.
  • Boys Soccer: Information about future soccer meetings and tryout information will be in future announcements.

ELAC:  Estimados padres de Miwok Middle School, quisiera invitarlos a nuestra próxima reunión de ELAC (Comité Asesor de Estudiantes de Inglés). Sera el 16 de febrero a las 10:30 am en la oficina. 

Parents of English learners are invited to our next ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee) meeting on Friday, February 16th at 10:30 am in the office.

PTSO Fundraiser: Acheson Wine Company will donate a percentage of sales back to a Miwok Middle School the entire month of February! Mention Miwok Middle when purchasing wine for consumption in house or purchase of bottles of wine to go. Click here for the flyer.

Save the Date-PTSO Sacyard Event: Save the date- Saturday, April 20th between 1:00-5:00 pm join us at Sac Yard Community Tap House to celebrate Miwok Middle School! At this family friendly event, there will be food and drinks available for purchase, an awesome silent auction as well as student created items for purchase. 8th Grade Discovery Kingdom Field Trip: In looking way ahead to the end of the year, the 8th grade Six Flags Discovery Kingdom trip will be on Tuesday, June 11th. The cost of the trip is $95 per student or $58 w/season pass. Your ticket includes park admission, transportation, and one meal deal package (1 meal voucher, 1 snack voucher and 1 drink voucher). Field trip packets will be available in the main office and our website the beginning of March. Submit both permission slips and payments (cash or money order only) to Ms. Payne in the main office no later than Friday, May 3rd. Parents if you are interested in being a chaperone please email Ms. Payne at Michele-payne@scusd.edu.  

Reminders- After School: We kindly ask that parents arrange transportation for their children to be off campus after school hours. Children are expected to be in study hall, tutoring, sports, clubs, or other school sponsored activity under adult supervision at all times if they are on campus after hours.
