Good afternoon, Mighty Oak families! As a friendly reminder, there is no school on Monday, February 19th in observance of President’s Day.

Air Rock: Air Rock will be in the cafeteria on Thursday, February 22nd at 6 pm. Doors will open at 5:30 pm. Ticket sales for Air Rock are open until the day of the event during lunch for $4 – be sure to buy tickets for your family members as well. You don’t want to miss this show!! Parking will be available in the back of the school, please enter through the J street gate.

Spring Sports: If your child is considering trying out for any sports, they must complete and return all 3 forms (see below) to our main office or you can email them to Natasha-Brown@scusd.edu. All forms must be submitted before your child will be allowed to tryout.

Boys Soccer Tryouts:

7th Grade Only Tuesday (Feb 20) 2:45-4:00/Thursday 1:45-3:00
8th Grade Only Wednesday (Feb 21)/Friday 2:45-4:00

Athletes should have both cleats and tennis shoes for tryouts, shin guards, and water. Each athlete should have a plain white t-shirt and will be expected to write their (assigned) tryout number on the front and back. The list is posted in the boy’s locker room.

Black Parent Involvement Day: February is Black History Month and Sacramento’s Black Parallel School Board (BPSB) is sponsoring Black Parent Involvement Day (BPID) on Tuesday, February 20th. This day is an opportunity for (all) parents to come visit to gain insights into our school. Please check in at our main office on the 2nd floor upon arrival.

PTSO Fundraiser: Acheson Wine Company will donate a percentage of sales back to a Miwok Middle School the entire month of February! Mention Miwok Middle when purchasing wine for consumption in house or purchase of bottles of wine to go. Click here for the flyer.

Save the Date-PTSO Sacyard Event: Save the date- Saturday, April 20th between 1:00-5:00 pm join us at Sac Yard Community Tap House to celebrate Miwok Middle School! At this family friendly event, there will be food and drinks available for purchase, an awesome silent auction as well as student created items for purchase. 8th Grade Discovery Kingdom Field Trip: In looking way ahead to the end of the year, the 8th grade Six Flags Discovery Kingdom trip will be on Tuesday, June 11th. The cost of the trip is $95 per student or $58 w/season pass. Your ticket includes park admission, transportation, and one meal deal package (1 meal voucher, 1 snack voucher and 1 drink voucher). Field trip packets will be available in the main office and our website the beginning of March. Submit both permission slips and payments (cash or money order only) to Ms. Payne in the main office no later than Friday, May 3rd. Parents if you are interested in being a chaperone please email Ms. Payne at Michele-payne@scusd.edu.

Reminders- After School: We kindly ask that parents arrange transportation for their children to be off campus after school hours. Children are expected to be in study hall, tutoring, sports, clubs, or other school sponsored activity under adult supervision at all times if they are on campus after hours.

Congratulations Jazz Band: Congratulations to the Miwok M.S. Jazz Band, ”The Oakey Dokies,”who won the middle school division at the Teagarden Jazz Festival.
