Good afternoon, Mighty Oak families! Congratulations to our Girls and Boys Cross Country teams who won the City Championship last week! Also, congratulations to Elias Thronson for winning the individual Boys Cross Country first place title! The team had a fantastic season and thank you to our coaches Bryan Moreno and Michelle Henning.

Good luck to our girls volleyball teams that will be heading into playoffs on Monday, October 30th in the Gold Division:

  • #5 Rosa Parks v #4 Didion – 3:30 (Match at Miwok)
  • Winner Game 1 vs #1 Miwok Green – 4:30 (Match at Miwok)
  • #3 Miwok Gold @ #2 Cal – 4:30 (Match at Cal)

The championship game will be on Wednesday, November 1st at the site of the highest seed.

Good luck to our flag football team who will be playing this Thursday, November 2nd in the 3rd place game against Einstein at Will C. Wood at 4:00 pm.

We only have 1 more week until the end of the 1st quarter! The last day of the quarter is on Friday, November 3rd and will be a minimum day schedule with students being dismissed at 12:18 pm (this is also a spirit dress up day and there is a dance after school).

Halloween Dress up Day: Halloween is on Tuesday, October 31st! As a reminder, be creative and dress in a costume appropriate for school and no masks. Top costumes will be invited to participate in our costume contest during lunch!  

Kindness is Magic Dress Up Day and Dance: Wear all purple to celebrate World Kindness Day on November 3rd. Our Kindness is Magic dance will be immediately after school from 12:20-2:20 pm. Tickets are $7 and are on sale during lunch. 

Free Math Tutoring in the Evening: Sac State has a FREE tutoring program called “Math Tutoring Buddies” offered by the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. They offer one-on-one tutoring via Zoom Monday – Friday from 4pm to 7pm. Math Peer Tutoring: Need some help in math? Come by Math Peer Tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch in the Library. Tutoring will begin on Tuesday, November 7th! You may bring your lunch.

High School Information: Click this link for HS information. Open Enrollment dates for High School Specialty Programs within SCUSD is from 10/30/23-11/17/23.     

PTSO Acheson Wine Fundraiser: Acheson Wine Company will donate a percentage of sales back to a Miwok Middle School the entire month   of October! Mention Miwok MS when purchasing wine for consumption in house or when purchasing bottles of wine to go. Click   here for the flyer. Acheson Wine Company is located at 1629 19th St. (Hours: 2pm-8pm)   

PTSO FALL-tastic 2023 Coming Soon: Our FALL-tastic fundraising event will run from November 6th- 17th. Funds raised from this event will go directly back to our students and our campus. All you need to do is collect donations, and you earn the prizes! Every donation donated on your behalf earns YOU new Miwok Middle School gear. More information coming soon!! 

Central Kitchen Food Truck: On Thursday, November 2nd the Central Kitchen food truck will be at school serving free breakfast to students.

CalKids: Your child may be eligible to receive money through a new state program helping students save for higher education.  CalKIDS, administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board, an agency of the State of California and chaired by the State Treasurer, automatically provides eligible, low-income public school children in grades 1-12 in California an initial seed deposit of $500 – $1,500 in a college savings account. Attached to this email is their flyer.

Update: Our staff member that fell earlier this week is doing ok still and is at home recovering.
