Good afternoon, Mighty Oak families! Tomorrow is the start of Spring Break so there will be no school from 3/23-3/31. When we return on 4/1, that will be the last week of the 3rd quarter. On 4/4, will be reviewing behavior expectations and end of the year participation requirements with students (this is also in the school planner and on our school website under student handbook). Friday, 4/5, will be the last day of the quarter and a minimum day with dismissal at 12:18 pm.  Friday will also have a modified schedule to accommodate the 8th grade panoramic photo and rally.

Mighty Oaks Madness: Thank you to those who have donated already! For those who haven’t, please take this opportunity to support end of the year activities, extracurricular activities, and teacher funds through our Mighty Oaks Madness fundraiser! Students can still earn no homework nights the night of our April dance and the day after, as well as student versus staff 3 point contest and student versus staff dodgeball game!! Any amount helps!   DONATE

Boys Volleyball Tryouts: Boys Volleyball will start when we return from Spring Break. Tryouts will be on Monday 4/1 and Tuesday 4/2 from 3:00-4:45pm. Players should bring athletic attire and water. Make sure all athletic paperwork has been submitted to Ms. Brown prior to tryouts. The volleyball roster will be finalized by Wednesday 4/3.  

Green/Gold Dress up Day April 5th: Let’s go Oaks! Friday, April 5th will be our schoolwide rally! Come to school dressed in as much green and gold as possible!

Rally Participants Reminder: IMPORTANT REMINDER for ALL ATHLETES, Speech & Debate competitors and Mathletes members – please meet in the GYM on Wednesday, April 3rd at the beginning of lunch. You will be part of the schoolwide rally, so make sure you attend!

Spirit Gear Sale: Purchase your Mighty Oak gear in room 111 at lunch for discounted prices. T-shirts are $5 and sweatshirts are $15. Limited sizes available. Sale ends on Thursday, April 4th. Remember, you want to dress in green and gold on Friday, April 5th for the rally!!

Spring Dance and Dress up Day: The Spring Dance “Fun in the Sun” will take place on Wednesday, April 10th from 2:35-4:35 pm. Wear your school appropriate beach/island attire to school! Tickets will be on sale at lunch starting Thursday, April 4th. $7 cash only, in Room 111.

Spring Photo/Promo Photo: Your pictures are posted online to access your child’s private gallery. You can access your pictures by clicking on the direct link that was sent to your email/text.You may also visit their website. This will require an “ONLINE CODE”. This will be unique to each student and is their (Student ID Number/LastFirstGrade )

Mural: If you pass by our school over Spring Break, you’ll see a mural being created on the back of our school facing J Street. There will be a mural unveiling and community celebration onSaturday, March 30th from 10 am-12 pm to honor the IMPACTT Native Youth Leaders (Indigenous Mentors Protecting Ancestral Cultural Teachings Team) for their hard work in creating the mural in collaboration with Hope Through Art, Sacramento City Unified School District, and Native Dads Network to mark the name change to Miwok Middle School.Here is a link to the flyer.

Yearbooks: Purchase your yearbook for $45 before they run out. Purchase online at Miwok MS Yearbook Purchase or pay cash to Ms. Payne in main office.

CAASPP: Friendly reminder that all students must have a working Chromebook in order to access CAASPP testing that starts on April 26th. If your child has a Chromebook that isn’t working, please make sure they notify the office as soon as possible (outside of class time). Below are the parent notification letters: English, Spanish, Russian, Chinese

8th Grade Discovery Kingdom Field Trip: The 8th grade Six Flags Discovery Kingdom trip will be on Tuesday, June 11th. The cost of the trip is $95 per student or $58 w/season pass. Your ticket includes park admission, transportation, and one meal deal package (1 meal voucher, 1 snack voucher and 1 drink voucher). Field trip packets will be available in the main office and our website or you can click this link to print and submit. Submit both permission slips and payments (cash or money order only) to Ms. Payne in the main office no later than Friday, May 3rd. Parents if you are interested in being a chaperone please email Ms. Payne at Michele-payne@scusd.edu.
