The Sutter Middle School Track program has a rich legacy of
success and fostering a passion for running, as well as providing
a positive environment for our student athletes to train,
compete, and develop lifelong friendships with their peers.
Committing ourselves as teammates and student-athletes is
paramount. Nothing comes before that, including
winning.
Our positive team climate should serve to represent and permeate
throughout the greater Sutter community, including our student
body, staff, alumni, local businesses, and nearby
community. All athletes on the Track roster are well aware
of this honor and responsibility. Team captains help to
anchor the value of our influence every year.
Team Captains for the 2023 season are:
Kira Doherty
Kate Judy
Connor Nurmi
Luke Van Patter

it’s to test the limits of the human

Important Notes
All prospective track athletes must
attend one sign up meeting and 2 scheduled
tryout sessions.
All prospective track athletes must have
a valid sports packet on file
with Ms. Brown in order to participate.
Track athletes are expected to attend all
scheduled practices (ONCE THEY MAKE THE
TEAM). Stretching yourself too thin amongst other
sports and activities is not appropriate and doesn’t help the
team if another activity requires your attendance during Sutter’s
team time.
To report your student’s absence, please complete this
webform or call the 24 hour Sutter
Attendance Line 916-395-5371.
Read each option thoroughly and select the reason that best
describes your student’s absence. Please note that office staff
may call to verify as necessary.
Allow 1-2 school days for attendance to be processed.
Today we pay homage to an extraordinary member in the history of
Sutter Middle School whose influence is everlasting.
Coach Doug Taylor was a teacher, athletic coach, mentor,
and pillar of our Sutter community from 1937 to 1973. Coach
Taylor was on staff at Sutter Junior High School when it
transitioned from the original campus on 19th and K
St. to its current I Street location.
