Good evening, Sutter families! It was wonderful seeing you last
night at Open House!
Safety: As an update regarding the incident
of inappropriate online activity that we informed you about 2
days ago, thanks to cooperation from our students, staff, school
administration, the Sac City Unified Office of Safe Schools and
the Sacramento Police Department, the investigation has been
brought to a successful conclusion.
Again, I would like to remind you to monitor your students’
activities on social media to be sure that they are not engaging
in risky or even dangerous behavior. If students ever see
something questionable online or are asked to do anything
inappropriate, they should contact school administrators or law
enforcement as soon as possible.
Thank you to our students and families who cooperated in this
matter.
Boys Volleyball: Our boys volleyball team
has done a great job in the debut season of the league and
competed in the championship game today against Fern Bacon. I’ll
update you on the outcome in my next message.

after the ceremony, which you are welcome to do.

until they arrive back at school to be dismissed at the end of
the minimum school day.
School Renaming Update: The Board-approved
process to rename Sutter Middle School and assign a new mascot
will be discussed at the board meeting on June 8th. The renaming
committee will propose the name they selected, Miwok Middle
School, for Sutter. This will then be an action item at the June
22nd board meeting. The expectation is that we begin the 23-24
academic year with the new name. There is a lot to be done in
order to update all facilities, uniforms, etc. that bear the
current school name. As a result, we should anticipate a
transition period before full implementation. Any questions can
be directed to Nathaniel Browning, Director of Capital Projects,
Facilities, and Resource Management for SCUSD,
Nathaniel-Browning@scusd.edu
. You may also visit the District’s FAQ web page, scusd.edu/school-renaming-initiative
